It has an incubation period of 50 days. It inhabits tropical rainforests, swamps, mangrove forests. It has a lifespan of 30 years, and their breeding season is May – October. It weighs around 29 – 58 kg, with a wingspan of 1.5 – 2 m and length of 127 – 170 cm. Its sexual maturity is at 3 years. And it is a non- migratory bird.
